In an effort to boost tourism and offer much-needed relaxation opportunities for the people of Tripura, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the 'Weekend Tourist Hub' on Sunday.
The hub, located in front of the Ujjayanta Palace, aims to provide individuals with a rejuvenating space to unwind during weekends, allowing them to find solace for their minds and bodies after hectic work schedules.
During the inauguration, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha expressed that the initiative was inspired by similar tourist hubs in foreign countries. He credited the Tourism Minister and his team for their efforts in planning and implementing the concept, which had been in the works for several months and was successfully launched before the upcoming Durga Puja festival.
Dr. Saha emphasized the importance of relaxation for both the mind and body, asserting that such innovative ideas were designed to provide people with a fresh perspective and renewed energy for their daily endeavors. He also highlighted the government's ambition to attract many tourists, taking inspiration from the successful gatherings witnessed near Laxmi Narayan Temple during small programmes.
The Chief Minister praised the enhanced connectivity in the region, facilitated by the improvement of the National Highway under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as ongoing work on the Rope Ways, making the state's tourist spots more accessible.
The weekend tourist hub is also expected to benefit traders in the state. Chief Minister Saha directed officials to explore the possibility of organizing music programs and poetry conferences, creating a platform for showcasing local talent.
Moreover, the government plans to exhibit traditional dresses of the 19 tribes in Tripura, allowing tourists to wear them and take photographs, similar to a trend observed in Kashmir. Chief Minister Saha viewed this initiative as a reflection of the state government's commitment to promoting the culture and heritage of its entire people.
With safety as a priority, the Chief Minister instructed the police to maintain strict vigilance to prevent potential problems and ensure a safe environment for tourists visiting the hub.
