Thrilling 1-Run win for Tripura against Rajasthan in National Women's One Day Cricket

In a nail-biting encounter, Tripura edged past Rajasthan by a mere 1 run in the National Senior Women’s One-Day Cricket Tournament, held at the Chaudhary Bansi Lal Cricket Academy, Lahli, Haryana. The victory was marked by exceptional bowling performances from Tripura’s spinners, Rohini Mane and Puja Das, who claimed four wickets each to dismantle Rajasthan’s batting lineup.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Tripura posted a modest total of 156 runs in 49 overs, losing all their wickets. The team’s innings began on a shaky note with the early dismissal of Jumki Debnath. However, Mouchaiti Debnath and skipper Tamanna Nigam steadied the innings with a gritty partnership.

Mouchaiti Debnath scored 20 runs off 36 balls, hitting four boundaries before falling. Tamanna Nigam, the captain, made a valuable 38 off 46 balls, including five boundaries.

Chasing 156, Rajasthan’s innings ended heartbreakingly at 155 in 46.5 overs. Despite a strong start, their batting lineup crumbled under pressure, unable to counter Tripura’s spin attack effectively.

Contributions from AD Garg (21 off 40 balls, 2 boundaries) and skipper SL Meena (18 off 35 balls, 1 boundary) kept Rajasthan in the game, while KP Choudhury’s quick 13 off 17 balls (2 sixes) brought late hope. Rajasthan also gained 15 extra runs.

However, Tripura’s bowlers turned the tide. Puja Das bowled a stellar spell, taking 4 wickets for 16 runs, while Rohini Mane’s 4/31 ensured Rajasthan’s downfall.

The victory keeps Tripura alive in the competition, with two wins from four matches. They now gear up to face Meghalaya on December 14 in a crucial game to strengthen their position in the tournament.

Puja Das was adjudged the Player of the Match for her match-winning bowling performance, a well-deserved recognition for her outstanding contribution to the team’s victory.
