TIPRA Motha Party calls 12-hr Bandh in District Council areas in Tripura on Sep 30

TIPRA Motha Party, the main Opposition Party in Tripura, has given a call for a 12-hour bandh in Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) on  September 30 next.

The announcement was made by ex-chairman of the TIPRA Motha Party, Pradyut Kishore Debbarma in Agartala on Saturday. 

He said, the decision of 12-hour strike was adopted to put pressure on the Center to find a constitutional solution to the demands of the indigenous people of Tripura.

Debbarma also said, the decision was taken after strategic deliberations among party leaders, who stressed the need for continued advocacy with the central government and the Home Ministry to address the concerns of the state’s indigenous population.

Addressing the press today, Debbarma said, “We have resolved to call a 12 hours bandh in the areas under the TTAADC to demand a constitutional solution for the indigenous people of Tripura". 

He pointed out that all the essential services including ambulance would remain out of purview of the bandh.

As TIPRA Motha Party has limited influence outside the areas under TTAADC, so the bandh call is limited to the TTAADC only, Debbarma said and reiterated his fight is not against any community.

Notably, after the State Assembly polls, the TIPRA Motha Party under went organisational changes and it abolished the post of Chairman which Pradyut Kishore Debbarma was holding as the party's supremo. 

At that time, Debbarma told he will not remain involved in day to day affairs of the party as he would be busy in holding talks with the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister regarding the core demands of the party. 

According to Debbarma, he held talks with the Union Ministers regarding the constitutional solutions for the demands of the TIPRA Motha Party.

Even as the talks were held in positive ambience, it is important that we keep up the pressure to ensure that our concerns are taken seriously, Debbarma comment.

He reiterated he remains steadfast in my efforts for the betterment of my community and our future generations.

Among others, TTAADC Chairman Jagadish Debbarma, Working president of TIPRA Motha Party's Women wing Manihar Debbarma were present in today's press conference.
