Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb laid emphasis on setting up Rubber Mission for creating more job opportunities in the rubber sector through expansion of the business activities in this sector.
Taking part in a review meeting with the officers of Industries & Commerce Department at Secretariat on Monday, Deb discussed strategies to improve the ease of doing business in the state and to attract investors from across the globe were discussed.
“Rubber, Agar & horticulture were the main areas of discussion”, Deb wrote in a Facebook post.
The Chief Minister underscored State Government’s emphasis on the development and expansion of the Rubber Sector in the State.
For augmenting Rubber production, Deb stressed training programmes for the ‘tappers’ as well as highlighted importance of setting up Rubber Wood Processing Units and more ‘smoke houses’ etc.
The State Government is aiming to create more job opportunities in the rubber sector by expanding the business ambit of the sector – for this Deb talked about establishing a Rubber Mission in the State.
Referring to Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Deb focused on the need to train more plumbers.
“The State is implementing the JJM across the State. This will create huge requirement of plumbers to ensure sustainable water supply. It is important to train at least two persons on plumbing in every Gram Panchayat area. This will cater the needs plumbers as well as open earning avenues for the youth”, Deb said.
Director of Industries and Commerce department TK Chakma presented a detailed success report of different activities initiated by the department. He also pointed out ‘Single Window’ portal for Ease of doing Business. Besides, Chakma also said, works for creating an online portal, namely Karmakhestra, is undergoing to empower the skilled manpower.
The Director also highlighted present status of Rubber sector as well as activities under Bamboo Mission and Agarbatti production. Among others, Minister of the Department Manoj Kanti Deb and Chief Secretary Kumar Alok expressed their views on several issues.
