Tripura govt eyeing to set up RIMS like institute in State, says Dr Manik Saha

RIMS-Tripura-AIIMS-Dental-CollegeTripura Government is contemplating setting a Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) like institute as well as a Dental College in the State. Recently talks were held with Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya regarding these two issues, said Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.

 

Dr Saha was speaking at a blood donation camp on Sunday morning Nursing Institute at IGM Hospital in Agartala. The Camp was organized by the Tripura State Committee of Doctors’ Cell and Ayurvedic Doctors Association. Around 40 volunteers donated blood in the camp.

 

The Chief Minister hailed the role of the doctors in rendering services at hospitals which are witnessing a heavy rush. Besides, he also recalled the contributions of the doctors during the Covid19 pandemic.

 

“To ensure that the doctors of the state can comfortably serve the patients and the necessary sets of equipment are available, the government is working to convert all the enewstime-RIMS-Tripura-AIIMS-Dental-CollegePHCs into wellness centres. Complex heart surgery is being done in the state. The doctors of the state have set an example by saving the life of a small child through the most difficult neuro operation”, the Chief Minister said and added, the State government is mulling over building an AIIMS-like hospital in the state.

 

Dr Saha also said, during the tenure of the current government, the number of referrals to hospitals outside the state has decreased. These achievements are the results of the united efforts of the people and doctors of the state.

 

Among others, MLA and chairman of IGM Rogi Kalyan Samiti Dr Dilip Das, Convener of Tripura State Committee of Doctor’s Cell Dr Sushanta Roy and members of the Cell and Ayurvedic Doctors Association remained present at the camp.
