BJP and TIPRA Motha supporters were locked in a violent clash at Pecharthal area last night in which six persons including a Police person were injured. Three vehicles were torched. It is learnt, clash broke out over allotment of REGA works.
Speaking to the media on Sunday about the clash, MLA Bhagaban Das pointed fingers at the Motha supporters for creating troubles. However, Motha denied the allegation and lodged a complaint against 12 BJP supporters in this connection.
TIPRA Motha supporters also set an ultimatum for the Police to arrest the accused 12 BJP supporters within 24 hours, otherwise Motha activists would trace out the accused persons of BJP, sources said.

Local sources said, TIPRA Motha supporters went to the house of BAC chairman Sajal Chakma and asked him as to why Motha workers were not getting REGA works.
Amidst heated altercation, it was rumoured that Motha supporters had assaulted the BAC chairman. Soon, BJP supporters rushed to the spot and violence between the two parties erupted.
Police reached the spot and they tried to bring the situation under control. In the melee, one of the Police personnel sustained injuries. Later, the SP of Unakoti district and the SDPO also reached the spot.
