Tripura Pradesh Congress Demands Justice for Attacked Activists and 'Missing' Member

Close on the heels of the announcement of the Panchayat Elections in the State, the Tripura Pradesh Congress alleged attack on the party activists in the Dukli area near Agartala by the BJP-supported goons on Thursday.  The Party leaders alleged one of its activists went missing after the attack.

TPCC president Asish Kumar Saha informed the press on Thursday that many other Congress workers were attacked in other parts of the state, including Udaipur and Tepania – apart from Dukli.

Addressing the press Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman said, “Following an all-party meeting conducted by the BDO in Dukli in preparation for the three-tier panchayat elections scheduled for August 8, BJP-led miscreants attacked the Congress activists and one of their activists went missing after an attack.”

Tripura-Pradesh-Congress-PanchayatMeanwhile,  a delegation from the Pradesh Congress submitted a deputation to the Officer-in-Charge of Amtali Police Station, demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits responsible for the attack on Congress activists in Dukli and the prompt location of the missing Congress worker.

Roy Barman also claimed that opposition workers and nominees were facing similar attacks in the nearby areas.

The Congress leader urged the State Election Commission to take immediate action to ensure free and fair panchayat elections alleging that the ruling BJP had already planned for mass rigging and intends to secure as many uncontested seats as possible.”

Raising their voice over the emerging situations, the Congress leadership expressed strong dissatisfaction with the election process and called for the Chief Minister’s attention.

However, Sudip Roy Barman tried to boost the morale of the party workers quoting Rahul Gandhi’s slogan - “Go ahead, no matter what the obstacles.”

He urged party activists to move forward fearlessly, highlighting the need for unity among Congress workers and their shared fight alongside CPIM members at the grassroots level.

The Congress leadership also announced the launch of a mass movement to highlighting key issues such as rising prices of essential commodities, lack of income opportunities, and irregularities in Shantiniketan Medical College etc before the Panchayat polls.
