Tripura: Tipra Motha calls 'Dawn to dusk' bandh in Kamalpur on Jan 23

Tipra Motha, the regional party of Tripura, called a 'Dawn to dusk' bandh in Kamalpur subdivision under Dhalai district on January 23 demanding immediate arrest of all the accused persons involved in the murder of a party worker on January 18 last.

Tipra Motha activist, Pranajit Namasudra, was a CPIM supporter who quit the party and joined Tipra Motha last year. He was killed at Bamanchhara under Kamalpur Police Station on January 18 night.

Even as Tipra Motha claimed miscreants backed by one political party were responsible for the killing, the police administration and state election commission ruled out the allegations of ‘political murder’ adding, “The murder reportedly was non-political and the man was killed due to financial disputes. So far, four people have been arrested and the police are looking for two more absconders in connection with the crime”.

Leader of women's wing of the Tipra Motha, Marry Debbarma vented resentment against the local administration in handling issues like handing over the body of Namasudra etc.

Marry Debbarma also demanded immediate arrest of all the accused persons involved in the case.

"In support of our demand, we will observe a Dawn to Dusk strike in Kamalpur subdivision on January 23", she told the media.

In this connection, Marry Debbarma slammed the ruling party. She alleged the ruling party is trying to scare the Tipra Motha supporters ahead of the poll.

The announcement of the strike was made amidst wild speculation indicating Tipra Motha is about to stitch an alliance - however, party's supremo Pradyut Kishore Debbarma dispelled the speculation.

Even if alliance is not formed with any of the National parties, Tipra Motha is hopeful of winning the IPFT, another Regional party and BJP's ally in Tripura.
