Agartala, October 19: In an attempt to attract more tourists in Tripura, State Government is stressing on Lake and wetland based tourism. Plans to introduce Floating jettis, new boats and motorable in water scooters at Neermahal and other spots are just few of the steps undergoing to make Lake based tourism more attractive.
Moreover, Helicopter tour package for Unakoti and Chabimura has also been introduced. The one-day package will offer tourists an opportunity to enjoy bird’s eye view of green Tripura in addition to visiting archaeological sites – Unakoti and Chabimura – set in lush green ambiance, sources in Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Ltd said.
Banking on Tourism sector for generating sustainable livelihood options, State Government is exploring all possible ways to attract more tourists. A major policy shift focuses on harnessing infra-facilities at tourist spots and introduce attractive plans for giving tourist a memorable experience.
Aiming to make lake and wetland based tourism more enchanting and exciting, Government is introducing all-weather floating jettis at Neermahal. It is learnt few of these floating jettis have already reached the State. Sources said, such jettis will also be introduced in Chabimura and Narkel Kunj. In addition, more boats will be introduced reducing waiting time.
Looking beyond traditional tourist spot, Tripura Government is eyeing on ‘Jagannath Dighi’ in Udaipur under Gomati district. Sources said, plans for introducing boating services in this age-old Dighi are under consideration.
Already the Government introduced battery-operated vehicles at Ujjayanta Palace and Akhaura Integrated Check Post in Agartala – and few more such cars will be introduced in Tepania Eco Park at Sepahijala to ease tourists’ movement.
