Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the gold schemes are focused on the growth of the country. Speaking after launching Gold Monetisation Scheme and Gold Sovereign Bond Scheme in New Delhi ahead of the festive season, Mr Modi said Indian people repose lot of trust in value of gold and it is also a source of urgent funds. Prime Minister said the reason behind the success of these schemes will be the women of India.
Mr Modi also launched the first ever India gold coin bearing Ashok Chakra and Mahatma Gandhi. The schemes were proposed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley during presentation of Union Budget this year. Prime Minister had announced about the launch of the schemes in his Mann ki Baat programme in All India Radio last month. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said people can keep raw gold in banks.
