Agartala, December 01, 2019: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today highlighted present economic condition and said, economic slowdown is a global phenomenon. Speaking at State Doctors’ annual conference in Agartala, Deb said, despite severe economic strains owing to global slow down, Tripura is battling well to overcome hindrances. On another note, Deb also said that Dr. Pratap Chandra Reddy, chairman of private-run Apollo Hospitals, would be arriving in Agartala on December 2 to meet him. Both will hold discussion on state government’s proposal for setting up of Apollo-like hospital in the state. Deb also said state government is contemplating to set-up a Medical College in Dhalai district hospital.
Amidst global economic gloom, Tripura is doing well. For health, Dr Pratap Ch Reddy is arriving on December 2 for a meeting on Apollo like hosp in the State.
Talking about global economic slow down, Deb mentioned about significant growth in Tax collection from 8.9 percent during LF regime to 26 percent in just two years of BJP-IPFT rule.
Referring to state’s current financial status, Deb said, “before review of the pay-scale, the state government needed to pay Rs. 433 crore per month for salary and pension of the employees. Now, the amount has increased to around Rs. 780 crore per month. It will cost around Rs. 46,800 crore for five years.”
“Payment of such large amount would not have been possible without double-engine government. And, I am happy to share that the Centre sanctioned additional Rs. 2427 crore for Tripura which is not included in the budget.
It has been possible just because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special attention towards Tripura among the northeastern states,” the Chief Minister elaborated.
Detailing about his proposal for Apollo like hospital in the State, Deb said, during his recent visit to Delhi, he had requested Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare- Dr. Harsh Vardhan so that Apollo Group opens a hospital in Tripura.
“The Union Health Minister, based on my proposal, contacted the Chairman of Apollo Hospitals- Dr. Pratap Chandra Reddy. Being apprised of the proposal, Dr. Reddy agreed to visit Tripura on December 2 for holding discussions on the same. If necessary, the state government is ready to provide land,” Deb told the gathering.
Referring to this, the Chief Minister said the proposal, if accepted, would open huge employment opportunities besides generating revenue. Because, a good number of patients from Bangladesh would also be visiting the state if Apollo-like Hospital is set up here, Deb said.
