Agartala May 12: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha announced a significant step toward strengthening the state’s healthcare system, revealing that the recruitment process for 332 nursing officers has begun. Additionally, the Finance Department has approved funds to hire 100 contractual nursing professionals, further reinforcing the medical workforce.
The announcement was made during an event at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, held to celebrate International Nurses Day 2025, marking the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale.
Dr. Saha, who also holds the Health portfolio, emphasized the indispensable role of nurses as frontline caregivers. “In 2024, we appointed 153 nursing personnel, and now we are recruiting 332 more nurses while approving 100 contractual staff to bolster healthcare services,” he said.
Highlighting the theme of this year’s International Nurses Day 2025, Dr. Saha noted that quality nursing not only enhances healthcare but also contributes to economic growth by making the profession more appealing.
“Nurses are often the first to attend to patients in hospitals, providing hope even in critical moments,” Dr. Saha stated. He underscored their responsibilities, from monitoring vital signs to administering medications, and acknowledged the challenges posed by high patient-to-nurse ratios. The state is actively evaluating the ideal nurse-to-patient ratio to improve care quality, he added.
