Agartala, May 10 (IANS): In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday emphasized the importance of coordinated action among Central and state security forces to maintain peace and order in the region.
Speaking to the media after holding discussions with top security officials, Saha said he had urged all forces operating in the state to enhance cooperation and ensure seamless communication to address any border-related developments and emerging challenges.
“We are strictly following the directives of the Central government led by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, and other key leaders are actively engaged in handling the current situation,” stated Saha, who also serves as the Home Minister of Tripura.
The Chief Minister assured the public that both security and administrative machinery in Tripura are fully prepared to respond to any exigency. “The overall situation across the state remains stable, and there is no immediate cause for alarm,” he added.
According to an official from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Saha chaired a high-level meeting on Friday in Agartala with senior officials from security, intelligence, and civil departments. The meeting focused on ramping up surveillance along the sensitive India-Bangladesh border.
“The closed-door session, which lasted over an hour, included participants from the Border Security Force (BSF), Assam Rifles, Tripura Police, central paramilitary units, and various intelligence agencies,” the CMO official informed.

Tripura shares an 856-kilometer-long international border with Bangladesh, surrounding the state on three sides, making it a strategic frontier amid regional unrest.
A BSF spokesperson confirmed that security has been significantly tightened along the Indo-Bangladesh border, especially in response to rising instability in Bangladesh following the ouster of Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League government on August 5, 2024.
“In the aftermath of the recent Pahalgam terror attack and amid heightened Indo-Pak tensions, our troops have been put on high alert. Senior BSF officers are conducting regular inspections and ensuring 24/7 monitoring of the international boundary,” the spokesperson added. (Edited)
