The Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju met the group of students from Serchhip district of Mizoram, who were on National Integration Tour organized by Assam Rifles, in New Delhi on Jan 12. During the meeting, the children shared their experience of their visit to different historical places and thanked the Assam Rifles and the Government of India for organising tours of this nature. While interacting with the children, Kiren Rijiju thanked Assam Rifles, including BSF and CRPF, for working in the process of National Integration by organising such tours for the students of North East and other difficult areas such as J&K and also giving an opportunity to the students to learn the socio-cultural diversity of the country. Kiren Rijiju said that Assam Rifles is not only working towards maintaining peace in the North East region but also doing social work.
Speaking about Mizoram, Kiren Rijiju said that Mizoram is one of the peaceful States in the country and there is a huge potential for tourism which can be realized by improving infrastructure and better connectivity. Since, one third of the Mizoram population resides in Aizwal, there is a need to develop southern Mizoram, he added.
The Minister said that India is a huge country with multiple religions and cultures, which has to be respected by all the citizens. He further added by saying that the youth of today should contribute to the realization of India’s dream of becoming a superpower.
