Pragnat Prasoon, a young innovator from Tripura, wins first place at the KVS National Level Science Exhibition 2024 with his sewage-cleaning robot, showcasing brilliance in robotics and social impact.
Agartala Apr 9: In an inspiring showcase of innovation, determination, and young brilliance, Pragnat Prasoon, a Class 8 student from Tripura, has secured first place at the KVS National Level Science Exhibition 2024–25 held in New Delhi. His groundbreaking project – an innovative sewage-cleaning robot – not only earned him the top honor but also spotlighted him as a rising star in India’s science and technology landscape.
The 52nd State Stariya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshini (RSBVP), organized by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), brought together the brightest young minds from 25 KVS regions across India. Held over two days starting April 7, the exhibition aimed to cultivate scientific temperament and foster creative thinking among school students through real-world problem-solving and innovation.
Pragnat’s robotic innovation, aimed at transforming the current sewage management systems, struck a powerful chord with judges and visitors alike. His model addresses a persistent public health issue – manual scavenging – and offers a safer, tech-driven solution. The robot is designed to perform essential cleaning tasks within sewage systems, thereby minimizing direct human exposure to toxic waste and reducing health risks for sanitation workers.
Currently studying at Kendriya Vidyalaya, JNU, New Delhi, Pragnat’s journey from a small town in Tripura to the national spotlight is nothing short of extraordinary. His passion for robotics began at an early age, fueled by curiosity and a knack for tinkering with electronic scraps. With the mentorship and support of his teachers and principal at KV JNU, this childhood hobby matured into a mission-driven pursuit of innovation for public welfare.
What sets Pragnat apart is not only his scientific acumen but also his multifaceted talent. He is a Yoga Grandmaster, holding eight national and international records, including five world records. His expertise in yoga and robotics presents a rare blend of wellness and technology—two fields that are increasingly intersecting in the modern world.
In recognition of his achievements, Pragnat was recently invited to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. During these high-level interactions, he presented his ideas on robotics and yoga, impressing national leaders with his clarity of vision and maturity beyond his years.

Speaking about his mission, Pragnat Prasoon said he aims to “harness the power of innovation to solve real problems, enhance life skills, and bring pride to Tripura and the entire Northeast region.” His success at the KVS national exhibition is not only a personal milestone but a source of hope and inspiration for young aspirants from underrepresented regions.
His win is being celebrated across the Northeast, especially in Tripura, where his story is seen as a powerful reminder of what determination, mentorship, and access to resources can achieve. Many educators, community leaders, and tech enthusiasts believe that Pragnat’s innovation could eventually lead to scalable solutions for India’s sanitation challenges.
As India looks toward a future driven by STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), young innovators like Pragnat Prasoon represent the promise of a smarter, more inclusive tomorrow. With a strong foundation in values, discipline, and creativity, Prajnat is set to inspire a new generation of changemakers, not just in Tripura but across the country.
