Libraries are absolutely essential for spreading a healthy culture, said Education Minister of Tripura Ratan Lal Nath after inaugurating the newly constructed building of Kanchanpur Public Library in Kanchanpur under North Tripura district on Saturday (Nov 19).
The newly built Kanchanpur Public Library has been built at the cost of Rs 66 lakh 67 thousand 420.
Fisheries and Cooperative Minister of the Tripura Government, Prem Kumar Reang, Secretary of Education department Saradindu Choudhury, Director of Higher Education department N. C. Sharma, Kanchanpur SDM Rajat Pant and social activist Gautam Roy were present during the inaugural programme. The programme was presided over by MDC of TTAADC Shailendra Nath.
In his inaugural speech, the Education Minister said, our government follows the mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’ and ‘One Tripura, Best Tripura’. He said, humans need to have practical knowledge so that they later become responsible citizens. The present government has given supreme priority to education.
In this regard, the department has recently taken different steps. Till now, 125 schools of the state have been brought under Mission Vidyajyoti.
Apart from that, initiatives have been taken for starting vocational education and pre-primary schools. He said, our government has been emphasizing upon expansion of quality education. Human mind develops through library. The teachers and parents must encourage the students to study in the library.

Fisheries and Cooperative Minister Prem Kumar Reang expressed his gratitude to the department for taking the initiative to expand the infrastructure of Public Library in the state and said, everyone must come forward to encourage local students to visit the library.
Secretary of Education Department Saradindu Choudhury also spoke on the occasion. Welcome speech was delivered by Director of Higher Education department N. C. Sharma.
The Education Minister also later laid the foundation stone for construction of three-storied building of Durgaram Choudhury Para HS school of Dasda today.
The Minister said, the state government has given special importance to expansion of education. Different steps have been taken for this. The fruit of these steps are recently showing.
Prem Kumar Reang on the other hand hoped that the local tribal students achieve success in different fields by making the best use of different facilities and opportunities.
