The nation remembers Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on his 69th martyrdom Day. Amongst others, President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice-President Hamid Ansari, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tributes to the Mahatma at Rajghat Saturday morning.
The Day was also observed in Assam. Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gagoi paid floral tributes to Mahatma today. On the 69th Martyrdom Day of Mahatma Gandhi, Gagoi said in tweet, “Homage to Gandhiji. Let us imbibe his ideals to defeat divisive forces to strengthen peace, harmony and development.”
Meanwhile, on minority development issue, Assam Chief Minister tweeted, “Our Government is committed to the welfare of all sections including minorities.Najma Heptulla’s comment on minority development is baseless”. In his tweet, Gagoi also mentioned about development and well being of Tea Tribes in Assam. To ease transportion of tea garden people 18 buses were introduced while 2700 land pattas and allotment certificates to landless people had been issued, he tweeted recently.
