There is no fresh tax introduced in the annual budget presented by the Finance Minister Lalsawta on the third day of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly Budget Session today. The Finance Minister presented a full budget for the financial year of 2016-17 amounting to Rs 8039 crores and along with a supplementary demand for grants amounting to Rs 1127 crores for the year 2015-16.
In his speech Lalsawta said, the State government is carefully monitoring the process of availing the Centrally Sponsored schemes by the department to avoid severe hardship in providing SMS. He also said the state liability is expected to go down to 44.07 percent from 65.06 percent in the year 2011-12.
Mr Lalsawta also proposes to allocate Rs 160 lakhs for establishment of Lok Ayukta and Rs 30 crore for ongoing flagship programme New Land Use Policy. The budget session will continue till 31st March.
