Agartala, Tripura Jun 16: The North Eastern Council (NEC) has announced a significant financial injection of Rs 14.22 crore (Rs 14,22,64,365) to propel various development projects across Tripura. This substantial allocation is set to bolster key sectors, including tourism, agriculture, industry, human resource development, transport and communication, science and technology, irrigation, water management, and the preservation of culture and heritage.
The funding underscores the NEC’s commitment to the holistic socio-economic growth of the North Eastern Region, with a particular focus on timely disbursement to ensure swift project implementation.
Key Projects and Allocations
Among the notable allocations this year are: Rs. 10,71,451 for setting up pig breeding farms in Hawai Bari under Teliamura Subdivision of Khowai district and in Jelepha of South Tripura district. Rs.1,10,49,864 has been earmarked for a Key Identified Service Delivery Project in Ganganagar R.D. Block of Dhalai district, and Rs. 1,54,43,543 for Raishyabari R.D. Block.
To enhance fish production, Rs. 1,00,37,400 has been allocated for pond excavation and renovation of minor water bodies. For farmers in Tripura, Rs. 2,00,00,000 has been sanctioned for setting up six Integrated Seed Processing Plants. Rs. 3,00,00,000 has been earmarked for the infrastructure development of two modern agricultural markets. An amount of Rs. 80,00,000 will be utilized to construct an Integrated Pack House in Dhalai district, Tripura. Additionally, Rs. 1,51,03,874 has been allotted for establishing brooder houses and poultry hatcheries, and Rs. 30,00,000 for constructing a new building at Vivekananda Tripureshwari Vidya Mandir school.
A breakdown of the notable allocations reveals a strategic approach to fostering diverse growth areas within the state:
Animal Husbandry: To enhance livestock farming, Rs 10.71 lakh has been earmarked for establishing pig breeding farms in Hawai Bari (Teliamura Subdivision, Khowai district) and Jelepha (South Tripura district).
Rural Development: Significant funds have been directed towards improving service delivery in rural areas, with Rs 1.10 crore allocated for a Key Identified Service Delivery Project in Ganganagar R.D. Block of Dhalai district, and Rs 1.54 crore for Raishyabari R.D. Block.

Fisheries and Agriculture: Boosting agricultural productivity is a clear priority. Rs 1 crore will be used for pond excavation and renovation of minor water bodies to enhance fish production. Farmers will benefit from Rs 2 crore sanctioned for setting up six Integrated Seed Processing Plants. Diverse Initiatives for Comprehensive Growth
Beyond these major allocations, the NEC’s funding extends to a range of other crucial initiatives. These include supporting workshops on Geographical Indication (GI) products, an international chemistry conference, a health economics winter school, and the installation of solar-powered irrigation pumps in government-run orchid gardens.
