Agartala, Oct 29: Assam Minister and NEDA chairman Himanta Biswa Sharma arrived in Agartala today in a one-day visit. During his whirlwind tour, Sharma met the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and later drove to Shanti Kali Ashram at Champaknagar and held a closed door meeting with chief saint of the Ashram Maharaj Chitta Debbarma. Sources said, he discussed issues relating to development and welfare of indigenous communities of the State. He was accompanied by MP Pratima Bhoumik and State BJP general secretary Rajib Bhattacharjee.
Earlier, Bhoumik and Bhattacharjee received Sharma at MBB Airport today. He met Biplab Kumar Deb and discussed on issues related to development of the State. Party sources said, a closed door meeting was held between Himanta Biswa Sharma, Biplab Kumar Deb, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Pratima Bhoumik, Rajiv Bhattacharjee and other top brass of the party. Even as Party leaders remained tight-lipped about the meeting, sources said that Himanta had given concrete suggestions on as to how to take the ongoing organizational elections to logical conclusion and strengthen the party here for upcoming TTAADC polls scheduled to be held in April next year.
On the meeting, Deb said in a message, “Had wide range of discussion regarding Gov’t and Party.” In his post, Sharma commented, “On a visit to Agartala, glad to have met Hon CM Tripura Sri Biplab Kumar Deb We discussed a range of issues pertaining to progress of the region. I complimented Sri Biplab Kumar Deb for the good work being done by him to constantly take Tripura to new heights of prosperity.”
Later, Himanta Biswa Sharma went to Shanti Kali Ashram and took part in Ashwamedh Yajna in the Ashram along with Tripura MP Pratima Bhoumik and Tripura BJP state secretary Rajib Bhattacharjee. Talking about his Ashram visit, Sharma said, “I had the privilege of visiting Shanti Kali Ashram, dedicated to memory of the great Hindu saint who worked tirelessly for welfare of tribals in Tripura.I offered my prayers and sought his blessings. Glad to see that the Shanti Kali Mission continues to do philanthropic work.”
