No positive Covid-19 case in Tripura, so far. No dearth of essential goods in State. CM Biplab Deb asked for stern actions against hoarders, Quarantine centers, task forces are ready.

Agartala, March 21, 2020: There is no positive case of Covid-19 infection case in Tripura, so far. State Government is monitoring the situation and formed both the State-level and district-level task forces. There is no shortage of food grains and essential commodities in the State. Government also warned stern actions against black marketing and rumour mongering.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today held a meeting with District officials through a video conferencing to review the preparedness on prevention of COVID-19 across the state.
Pandemic Covid-19: Battle ready task forces
Later, speaking to media, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today confirmed, “No positive case of coronavirus infection in Tripura has been reported, so far. All possible steps including precautions have been taken to prevent spread of coronavirus.”
He added, “State and district level task forces have been formed for close monitoring of overall situation. The Chief Secretary has been made chairman of 9-member state level task force while the District Magistrates (DMs) have been entrusted as chairman of the district level task forces consisting five members each.”
The task forces in collaboration with the Health department will monitor the overall situation and brief media on daily basis about the latest updates, he said.
Talking about stock of essential commodities in the State, Deb said, “There is no shortage in buffer stock of food grains and essential items in the state. The administration is keeping a close watch for maintaining the stock across the state.”
The Chief Minister asked all the District Magistrates to ensure stock of essential commodities in all ration shops and availability of vegetables in markets.
He also instructed the District Magistrates to take strict action if any trader is found involved in black marketing or any person spreads rumour.
He also appealed the citizens to observe Janata Curfew called by the Prime Minister tomorrow.

Quarantine centers, screening of passengers
Health Secretary Dr. Debashis Basu briefed about present situation prevailing in the State and said, “At present, 143 persons are in quarantine. Two new quarantine centers have been set up at SIPARD hostel and Co-operative Training Institute. Besides, we are contemplating a plan to open quarantine centers in all districts.”
Meanwhile, screening of the passengers has been intensified in all entry points of the state including Airport and railway stations.
“Bangladesh has not yet suspended the international flight services. In that case, some passengers, after landing in Dhaka, may use Tripura as a transit point for travelling to other parts of the country. The Indo-Bangla border except Akhuara ICP has already been sealed. We shall communicate with the concerned Ministry so that a restriction on movements of such people through Akhuara ICP is imposed,” Biplab Kumar Deb told the Media.
