Acharya celebrated Durga Puja and offered darshan and prayer at various locations at Kohima today. Hindu believers turn up in thousands in their best attire and participate in mass worship and prayer at various temples. Starting with morning devotion and worship through the late Sandhya Arati, the believers partake in worship sessions with sincere devotion and passion.
Durga Puja also marks a wonderful opportunity for people of various cultures to intermingle with each other. The festival has indeed transcended the boundaries of religion and has become an event that promotes social harmony and well being.
In Tripura, the annual festival of Durga Puja is in its full sparkle on the Mahasaptami day today, amid very tight security everywhere in the State and alert (http://pro-mass.com) on the international border areas. In all, the number of community pujas this year has touched the highest ever mark with 2510 pandals worshiping the goddess. Over 257 Durga pujas pandals have come up in capital, Agartala and its outskirts.
In Assam, Saptami puja is being observed in Durga pandals today. Over 3 thousand durga pujas have been organized in the state this year. (http://www.enewstime.in/?p=996)Various pandals reflecting contemporary issues are the hallmark of attraction. Around 500 puja pandals have been organized in Guwahati city. Apart from community pujas, Goddess Durga is also worshipped by a number of families individually.
In Meghalaya, the Durga Puja(http://www.enewstime.in/?p=996) celebration began today with traditional gaiety and fervour. Durga Puja is being celebrated in as many as 161 community puja pandals in the state, including 87 in East Khasi Hills, 11 in Ri Bhoi, 9 in Jaintia Hills and 54 in Garo Hills.
