February 27, 2018: Over 67 percent voter turnout has been recorded in Meghalaya assembly elections till 4 PM. In the last assembly elections, 89 percent voter turnout was registered in the state.
Briefing media in New Delhi, Deputy Election Commissioner, Chandra Bhushan Kumar said the polling was completely peaceful. In Nagaland, 75 percent polling was recorded till 4 PM. In the last assembly elections, the polling percentage was over 90 percent.
Deputy Election Commissioner, Sudeep Jain, said the polling was smoothly conducted in the state, barring some sporadic incidents. 59 assembly seats each went to the polls in the two states today. The counting will take place on 3rd of next month. (AIR News)
