November 17, 2018: Air ticket crisis is likely to be addressed soon as three flights will start operations and also the State Government has decided to reduce Air Fuel Charges.
As the State is experiencing air ticket crisis, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today once again held talks with Central Government. Sources said, Deb held talks with Principal Secretary of Prime Minister, Nripendra Mishra and detailed about plights of common people.
“Three flights – two indigo flights and one Air India flight – will operate and direct flights from Agartala to Chennai and Bengaluru without hopping will be introduced to lessen the passengers rush in these routes”, highly placed sources said and added, it is expected that at least one flight will start operations within 15 days.
In another significant move, the State Government has decided to cut the Air Fuel Price by 2 per cent lowering it to 16 per cent which is lower than Fuel charge in Kolkata. “As a result of 2 per cent cut, State will have to incur a loss of Rs 1 crore 20 lakh per year. However, State Government is exploring avenues to make the loss”, sources said.
