Agartala, July 22, 2019: Gone are the days when New Delhi was too far away from Agartala. Indigo airlines will introduce direct flight between New Delhi and Agartala. The service will begin from August 14 next.
An official statement said the Indigo flight (6E 2047) would depart from New Delhi at 12:50 hours and reach MBB airport at 3:10 hours.
In return journey, the flight (6E 2048) would take off from Agartala at 16:40 hours and reach Delhi at 6:10 hours. Booking of air tickets has already been made available, sources said.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in a Tweet said that he had recently requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union minister Suresh Prabhu for direct flight service in Agartala – Delhi route.
While conveying his gratitude to the Prime Minister for fulfilling the long standing demand, Deb said the direct flight would be helpful for tourists, business people and all others.
Meanwhile, Tripura MP Pratima Bhowmik raised the issue of improving air connectivity and increase frequency during on-going Lok Sabha session. She had also meeting with Ministry of State for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri in this connection. She also conveyed her heartfelt gratitude to Puri.
