Agartala, February 12, 2019: As part of the national campaign, Chief Minister Biplab Deb today launched the ‘Mera parivar, Bhajpa parivar’ (My Family, BJP Family) campaign by hoisting the BJP flag in his constituency Banamalipur in Agartala. BJP leaders across the country today put up the party flags at their homes as part of the campaign. Across the nation, BJP leaders hoisted flags at their residences and/or constituencies.
Deb followed the ritual in his constituency area and posted photos in twitter, ahead of the general election, due by May this year. The campaign till March 2 seeks to cover over five crore houses of its workers and supporters across the country.
A large number of party leaders and workers joined the campaign and shared pictures on social media. “We have to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by winning maximum seats in the upcoming general elections and we should work hard to see that Modi continues as Prime Minister even after general elections”, Deb said.
BJP sources said, the drive is a part of BJP’s mass mobilization for the Lok Sabha elections and may touch up to 20 crore people if a house has an average of four residents. Sources added that the party has a target to wrest the state’s two Lok Sabha seats from the CPIM in the ensuing general elections.
Top party leaders held a series of meetings with local leaders and asked them to gear up for Lok Sabha polls. In a bid to resolve people’s problems on the spot, the Chief Minister began holding Janata Darbar regularly. Last month, BJP president Amit Shah said the BJP, along with its allies, would win at least 21 out of total 25 Lok Sabha seats in the eight northeastern states in 2019 polls as against eight it won in 2014.
