Agartala, February 06, 2019: Non-BJP MPs of North East today held a demonstration in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 in front of Parliament. Voicing deep concern over the Amended Bill, MPs demanded to scrap the Amendment for the interests of NE people.
Member of the Parliament Jitendra Chowdhury today claimed, “The Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 is itself an attack on the constitution. This undemocratic Bill will cause serious harms to the demographic situations of the states where the tribal population shares a big portion”. While addressing the media persons in front of the parliament during an agitation staged by non-BJP MPs of the North East, he also said, we oppose citizenship bill and will not let the government to enact this as a law.
