Agartala, April 04, 2019: In a hard hitting campaign blitz, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today came down heavily on Opposition Parties and launched a spirited campaign in favour of BJP nominee Rebati Tripura from East constituency at Kanchanpur under North District today.
Taking a dig at Congress, Deb said, the slogan saying that ‘First comes Community’ (Puila Jati) will encourage divisive forces in the State. “For winning in elections, it is essential to show positive achievement in developmental activities – slogan cannot win polls”, he said.
Lashing out at IPFT, Deb said, IPFT gained prominence after forging alliance with BJP in Assembly polls – however, despite being an ally, IPFT decided to contest from both LS seats. “IPFT will realize their actual values after the election”, Biplab Deb commented.
Presence of people belonging to various indigenous communities boosted the confidence of saffron party leaders. With BJP’s ally IPFT is also in the fray, Biplab Deb is trying hard to consolidate indigenous votes in favour of BJP and attendance of large number of men, women and youth in BJP’s poll rally is an indication of rapid expansion of saffron party in Hill areas.
The East Parliamentary Constituency seat is poised to witness a tough battle as Congress fielded member of Tripura Royal family who is also making sure to cast an impact among the indigenous people. However, as BJP’s ally IPFT fielded its supremo in the contest, possibility of division of votes between BJP and IPFT became a major concern. Also, seasoned CPI-M leader and sitting MP, Jitendra Choudhury is in the fray. However, participation of indigenous people in support of BJP’s candidate is an encouraging factor for the Party.
Addressing an impressive crowd, Deb recalled Maharaj Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya’s contribution in modernizing Tripura and said, the Maharaja set up schools, colleges and initiated several other welfare activities. However, leftists attempted to erase all the achievements of Maharaja and kept young people unaware about Maharaja, he said. Firing verbal salvo at Red Party, he criticized CPIM for ignoring contributions of the Maharaja and considering innocent and hapless indigenous people mere as a part of vote bank politics.
In the meeting, voters of 30 families joined BJP. Addressing an impressive rally, Deb also blamed CPIM for creating schism and enmity between tribal and non-tribal communities. He said, the ugly face of enmity was visible during 1980-2005 period. People of the State have rejected CPI-M, he said.
