Agartala, June 24, 2019: Exquisite bamboo and cane crafts of Tripura has made a strong stride forward in expanding market-visibility and artisans will now be able to sell their products to global customers. Crossing the boundary of tiny Tripura, artisans are now eyeing to make footprints at much bigger stage using virtual platform – called GeM.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today launched e-marketing facility for Bamboo artisans ensuring better market reach for the Bamboo products of the State. Deb also directed the State Industry Department to ensure adequate marketing of Bamboo products.
The Chief Minister today formally launched Tripura Bamboo mission organized Government e-Marketplace (GeM), inaugurated a workshop, conducted by National Bamboo Mission on Bamboo based products as well as a web portal for online admission in ITI in Agartala.
Launching the facilities, Deb said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced Government e-Marketplace to provide easy marketing facilities for products of small scale entrepreneurs. This is a dependable platform which is providing enhance market access to small entrepreneurs. Using the platform, transactions up to Rs 100 crore are possible while no tender will be required for transaction below Rs 25 thousand”.
Pointing out that the Prime Minister ensured easing business procedures, Biplab Deb referred to Prime Minister’s dream of making Tripura ‘HIRA’ – development in Highway, i-way, roadway and airway – for providing sustainable earning opportunities to people of the State.
Deb delved in details and focused on opportunities available in Bamboo based industry. He also stressed on utilizing residual portion of after-use bamboo. Deb suggested the artisans to prepare exquisite artworks keeping in mind contemporary trends and people’s tastes. “With the more Bamboo items would be sold at national and international markets, the more artisans will earn. It will also increase revenues for the State”.
On admission in ITI, the Chief Minister said, total 2450 seats were allotted in ITIs of the State for which aspirants can apply for admission through online facility.
Among others, Business facilitator of GeM North East, Niraj Kunja explained in details about GeM and opportunities available for Bamboo crafts under GeM. He highlighted how GeM platform has made online procurement easy and has come as boon for Bamboo artisans of the State.
