August 11, 2018: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that IITs have built brand India globally. Addressing the 56th annual convocation of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay today Mr. Modi said IITs conceptualised to contribute to nation-building through use of technology.
He said students who passed out from IITs are actively contributing to the development of the country. He said they are also contributing in the startups. Mr. Modi said, the nation is proud of the IITs and what IIT graduates have achieved. The success of IITs led to the creation of engineering colleges around the country.
He said the students were inspired by the IITs and this led to India becoming one of the world’s largest pool of technical manpower. Mr. Modi said innovation is the buzzword of the 21st century and called upon the students to innovate in India and innovate for humanity.
Later, Mr. Modi will also inaugurate the new building of the Department of Energy Science and Engineering; and Centre for Environmental Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay. (AIR News)
