Agartala, January 11, 2019: Raising voice of concern, visiting NESO delegates –led by All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) advisor Samujjal Bhattacharjee – stressed on peace in Tripura as well as in North East region and they clearly underlined, opposing Citizenship (Amendment) Bill does not mean that NESO is up against Bengalis, Hindus or Muslims – but NESO is protesting against illegal Bangladeshi people. Speaking to media, Bhattacharjee said this today. He also demanded Judicial inquiry by a sitting Judge of the High Court into Madhab Bari firing and punishment of Police officers who were involved in firing.
In the wake of Madhab Bari firing on January 08 last, a NESO team consisting chairman of NESO Sammuel Jaroa, vice chairman Upendra Debbarma, advisor Samujjal Bhattacharjee and other members arrived in Agartala on Thursday. The delegates visited GB Hospital to inquire about health condition of persons who sustained bullet injuries in Police firing at Madhab Bari. Today, the team went to visit Khumulwng. As Section 144 is still in force in the area, Police administration prevented them from entering in Khumulwng. Visiting NESO team expressed resentment for not being allowed to visit Khumulwng.
“We condemn it – this is grossly undemocratic. Why we were not allowed to visit injured persons – we want peace, we are here with a message of peace and harmony. Our purpose of the visit is to maintain and promote peace,” Bhattacharjee said. He blasted out at BJP Government and strongly criticized the Government.
