September 27, 2018: The Odisha Government has deputed a high level team after clashes broke out between two groups of students yesterday at Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan in Agartala. According to available information, the Director of Higher Education Department B Parmeswaran and Vice Chancellor of Shree Jagannath Sanskrit University, Radha Madhav Dash have been deputed to Agartala.
After the clash, around 90 Odia students along with 10 teachers posted an online video last night in social media. In the video, students narrated their ordeal and requested help.
The Sanskrit College in Tripura, witnessed chaos for last nine days as students staged agitation, however, the College authority allegedly turned a blind eye. Later, altercation of two groups of students led to scuffle and later Police intervened to bring the situation under control. “Local students of Tripura alleged against three Odia professors for partial attitude and favourtism”, sources said.
However, Odia students along with teachers put up a video alleging harassment by local students. Odisha administration reacted promptly and sent a high level team to visit Sanskrit College and ensure safety of Odia students. Meanwhile, College authority will meet the State Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath today evening. Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan spoke today to State Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb about the alleged attack and pleaded for the students’ safety.
