Rohingya threat: Border vigil heightened in Tripura

Agartala, July 17, 2019: Security arrangements have been tightened along Tripura-Bangladesh border at Boxanagar under Sonamura sub-division following reports of possible Rohingya infiltration in the State. Acting on tip off, security personnel have been put on alert to thwart attempts by Rohingya refugees to sneak into Tripura from Bangladesh.

According to sources, near about 10 to 15 Rohingyas were spotted in the bordering areas Bangladesh, who were approaching towards Indian borders. Accordingly, the deployment of forces in the bordering areas was doubled. Restrictions were also put on place vehicular movements in border road.
