Agartala, Jun 09, 2019: State BJP Spokesperson Ashok Sinha has on Sunday accused the previous CPIM government of misleading CBI in the “Rose valley” chit fund case and said that the present government had kept its promise by requesting the CBI, the premier investigation agency of the central, to initiate prompt inquiry against the company.
“The BJP party had kept its promise. Before the elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as the National President of BJP Amit Shah assured the people of the state that specific inquiries would be initiated against Rose Valley. And, keeping the promises on May 22 last, the state government had written the Secretary of Ministry of Personal, Public Grievances and Pension, Department of Personnel &Training (DoPT), Government of India to expedite the process of taking up investigation against Rose Valley and all the other 74 chit fund companies who looted hundreds of crores of rupees from the state” he informed the media.
In the letter, the government stated, “out of 74 no. NBFC cases, 03(three) cases vide Agartala PS case NO. 132/2013, Kumarghat PS Case No. 57/2015 and Birganj PS Case No. 29/2015, are against Rose valley Groups of Companies which involved misappropriated amount of Rs 98, 16, 79685 only.” And, urged ministry to expedite the process of taking up investigation in all the related cases.
He further said, people of the state apprehended the tacit bonding between the previous ruling party and the “Rose Valley” by the then government’s inaction over the issue. In a clever attempt to divert the public discontent, the previous government handed over the inquiry to the CBI but there were flaws in the request letter forwarded to the CBI, he added.
In the first letter to the CBI, he said, the government pointed out that an amount something below Rs 1 lakh was misappropriated in the Rose Valley scam. As the sum of money was not encouraging for the CBI, the investigation agency had accepted the letter but did not take any further action. And, the then Chief Minister Manik Sarkar did know everything regarding the inquiry procedures of CBI, he alleged adding that but when the issue was once again raised in the Assembly, it was revealed that Rose Valley had pocketed Rs 98, 16, 79,685 from the state.
