Agartala, January 12, 2019: Normal life was hit in 12-hour strike called by six tribal based opposition Parties today in ADC areas. Bandh supporters staged road blockade at several places in Dhalai, Gomati, Sepahijala and South districts. Vehicles are not plying along the NH.
Police sources said, there is no report of any untoward incidences. Security personnel are patrolling in sensitive areas.
In the wake of 12-hour strike today called by several tribal-based regional opposition parties, prevailing situation in hill areas of Tripura is stated to be normal and no reports of any untoward incidences have been reported till 12 noon.
Tight security arrangements have been made. Para military forces have been deployed to maintain law and order condition. Section 144 is still in force in the sub-division. Internet services remained suspended across the State.
The 12-hour Bandh was called protesting against Police firing during NESO-called strike on January 08, 2019 at Madhab Bari under Jirania sub-division in West Tripura. The 12-hour shut down was called by INPT, NCT, IPFT (Tipraha), TSF and other local parties. Major political parties including BJP and its ally IPFT, CPI-M and other parties are opposing the Bandh.
