Agartala, Feb 03, 2019: Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel detained seven Rohingya children – six girls and a boy – from Dharmanagar Rail Station in Tripura today. The children – all under 18 – would be lodged in a Government run juvenile home. Railway tickets up to Badarpur station in Assam were found with them and they reached Dharmanagar from Agartala. They might have been trafficked by middlemen, sources said and added, touts might have spotted the security personnel and fled.
Police is investigating about how these children reached Agartala and other related details. The children might have been trafficked by middleman.
So far, security personnel have apprehended 68 Rohingyas, mostly women and children, in last two weeks, sources said.
