Agartala, June 22, 2019: The Central Government has decided to allot 25 MBBS seats for medical aspirants from economically weak section of Tripura. Chief Minister cum Health Minister, Biplab Kumar Deb said this today after laying foundation stone for Trauma Care Center at South Tripura District Hospital at Santirbazar.
“It is yet another historic step to uplift Tripura. The Union Government has approved 25 more MBBS seats for the financial backward section of students with the existing seats available at AGMC hospital and Tripura Medical College remaining intact, a step ahead towards Model state. Economically backward students, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, will be eligible for these seats”, said the Chief Minister.
Underlying Government’s priority, Biplab Deb said, collaborative efforts of the Central and State Government aim at improving medical facilities for all sections of people of rural, semi-urban areas. “Trauma Care Facility is a National Project. Central Government will shoulder 90 per cent of the cost, State Government will finance rest of the 10 per cent”, he said and added, prime objective of setting up Trauma Care facilities is to provide emergency medical services to road accident victims at quickest possible time.
