August 15, 2018: Along with the nation, 72nd Independence Day was celebrated in Tipura with usual enthusiasm and cheerfulness. The main programme was held in Assam Rifles ground in Agartala. Chief Minister Biplab Deb unfurled the National Flag. After assuming power, for the first time Deb hoisted the National Flag on I-Day as the Chief Minister.
He inspected the parade of security forces including Tripura Police. Braving blazing sun, people gathered at the ground and waited till the end. Disciplined march-past by security forces, NCC and NSS enthralled the audience. Later school children presented a cultural programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Biplab Deb reiterated that his Govt would fulfil all the promises made in Vision Document. Following queue from the Prime Minister, Biplab Deb too highlighted his Govt’s plan to double agri-farmers income within 2022. He also mentioned about empowering the womenfolk through quick implementation of central schemes including Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojna. He focused on cultivation of bamboo and pineapple for creation of job opportunities.
On good governance and , Biplab Deb stressed on digitalization and said, Tripura has the potentiality of emerging a major IT Hub. He also mentioned focused on improving living condition of people in the State.
In today’s I-Day parade, 18 platoons – including Mizoram Police – took part. TSR 2nd Battalion excelled in the parade and emerged 1st while CRPF secured the 2nd position. The 3rd position was bagged jointly by BSF and Mizoram Police. During the programme, recipients of President’s Police Medal in 2017 received medals from the Chief Minister.
