Agartala, July 08, 2019: State BJP unit fired from all guns at Left Front Convener Bijan Dhar and demanded legal actions against Dhar for deliberately instigating communal tension in the State.
Speaking at a press conference today in Agartala, BJP spokesperson Dr Ashok Sinha referred to Dhar’s statement in a TV channel that BJP workers had set afire a Masjid in West Chandrapur yesterday – but the claim was absolutely untrue. Dr Sinha pointed out that the idea behind his comment was actually part of a conspiracy to trigger religious conflicts in the State and disrupt smooth functioning of the Government.
“Such instigation by spreading highly sensitive false information invites legal action against the rumour monger and actions may lead to six years of imprisonment. Bijan Dhar comes under this category and he should be slapped with IPC 153 (A) and IPC 505,” said Dr Sinha.
He, however, thanked the media and people for not falling into the dangerous trap of the Marxist leader. “It is good to observe that media did not cover Bijan Dhar’s reactions and people also did not pay heed to his statement”, Dr Sinha said.
In all the elections, in recent past from Assembly to Lok Sabha and also in the ensuing Panchayat polls, Left Front seemed to have lost its foothold. Desperate they are now hell bent to create problems in the state and fish in the muddy water, felt the BJP spokesperson.
It may be noted, violence erupted yesterday when BJP supporters went to West Chandrapur Gram Panchayat for campaigning in favour of party candidates. In the attack, around 11 BJP workers were injured and 22 bikes and one car were set ablaze. Referring to the attack, Dr Sinha said, “The attack on our supporters was pre-planned. Importantly, Bijan Dhar’s statement aptly demonstrates the difference between politics and ugly politics”.
Meanwhile, speaking to media, BJP State general secretary Rajib Bhattacharjee said, BJP candidates filed nominations in all the seats for upcoming three-tier Panchayat Polls scheduled to be held on July 27. “In all seats, BJP candidates filed nominations amid peaceful condition”, he asserted.
