December 09: State unit of BJP condemned INPT’s proposed road and rail blockade scheduled to be staged tomorrow and urged people not to be panicked. Addressing a press meet today, BJP State secretary Pratima Bhowmik said, BJP strongly opposed INPT’s decision to stage road and rail blockades on December at three places in the State on proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016.
Urging people to foil the blockade call, she said that INPT leaders could opt for discussion over the issue, instead of going to disrupt normalcy.
“This is examination time for students in most of the schools in the State and road-rail blockade will harm interests of the students. INPT has lost relevance in the State after last Assembly polls when they drew a blank”, Bhowmik commented.
Hurling barbs at previous CPM government, Pratima Bhowmik said, Manik Sarkar-led Government could hold tri-partite meeting between State, Central Governments and INPT leaders to address the issue. However, CPM lingered the problem and presently, INPT is using the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 to regain lost ground in the State.
“INPT is trying to recover from serious Poll drubbing before the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and infuse confidence among the supporters”, Bhowmik asserted.
She further said, “INPT has called for blockade to create confusion and panic among the people. However, administration is ready to tackle the situation and maintain normalcy. Moreover, BJP will also keep tight vigil over the prevailing situation in the backdrop of INPT’s blockade call”.
