Agartala, July 8, 2019: BSF troops seized Yaba and cough syrup of worth around Rs 16 lakhs from different areas in Tripura. BSF trrops deployed at Border Out Post Kamlasagar, PS Madhupur under West Tripura District received specific information on July 7 about smuggling of Yaba tablets. Accordingly, a special operation was planned.Troops observed suspicious movement of one miscreant approaching near Indo-Bangladesh Border Fence along with some packets.
On being challenged, miscreants managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of darkness. During search of the area party recovered one small plastic bag containing 2975 Nos of Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 14,87,500/-from the spot. Seized items handed over to PS Madhupur.
In another incident related to smuggling of Yaba tablets, BSF troops of Border Out Post Srimantapur, PS Sonamura, District Sepahijala in Tripura received specific information regarding smuggling of Yaba tablets through Gomti river across India to Bangladesh side. Accordingly, BSF troops on duty while dominating riverine area with rubber boats, observed a stem of banana tree floating on Gomti river. They took out the banana stem from the river and found one sack tied up with banana stem.
On opening of the sack, 190 Nos Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 95,000/-and 60 Bottles Phensedyl worth Rs. 8,415/-were recovered. It is worthwhile to mention here that the border criminals take advantage of rivers and nalhahs flowing from India to Bangladesh and are indulge in smuggling activities by adopting different modus-operandi including tying-up of the contraband goods with banana stem and letting it to float-over to Bangladesh to be received by their associates. The seized items were handed over to PS Sonamura.
