December 12, 2018: The State Election Commission has on Wednesday deferred the by-polls to civic bodies. As per the new schedule, the by-elections will take place on December 27 next.
The Left Front seems to be unhappy over the decision of State Election Commission as Jana Shiksha Diwas also falls on the same date- December 27.
According to Left Front state committee, the historic Jana Shiksha Diwas is observed across the state throughout various programmes on this day since1945.
Earlier the by-polls were scheduled to be held on December 22 next. But, the State Election Commission, in exercise of powers conferred by the Tripura Municipalities (conduct of election) Rules-1995, postponed the by-elections today. Now, the by-polls would be held on December 27 next.
