August 10, 2018: The State Government is keenly working on improving education system and has initiated actions keeping in mind long-term goals. The Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said this in a programme at Udaipur English Medium School under Gomati district today.
The programme was held to commemorate Foundation Day of the School and annual prize distribution. The Chief Minister chalked out State Government’s initiatives and plans for expansion and improvement of the education system in the State and talked about making the State an ‘Edu Hub’.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, the State Government has decided to award top five candidates of Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Exams. Moreover, achievers of different field like sports, cultural field, civil service etc would be awarded by the State Govt.
Biplab Deb focused on Government’s plan for ensuring quality education for school students. He said, the State Government allotted 20 acre land free of cost for construction of Navodaya Vidyalaya at Dhalai District. “Previous LF-led Government was not sincere about creating educational hub for the students – and that is why previous Government did not take any action to set up triple IIT in the State. “The State Govt is decided to set up triple IIT in the State immediately after assuming power. Moreover, classes in NIT have already started”, he asserted.
In his speech, Deb said, the State Government has also decided to arrange loan facilities for financially weak students who have scored 50 per cent marks. “The State Government will shoulder interests of the loan”, he commented and added, 24 new Eklabya Model Residential Vidyalayas will be constructed for improving education facilities among the tribal students. “The Central Government has sanctioned proposals for setting up new Eklabya Vidyalaya and functioning of all such schools will start within next three years.
