Agartala, April 25, 2019: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today scaled up political mercury in West Bengal by adding more teeth to BJP’s call to ‘save democracy’ there. He launched campaign blitzkrieg in West Bengal in support of saffron candidates today and in his usual aggressive style, Deb trained his guns at Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress. He also came down heavily on CPM and Congress. The Tripura Chief Minister held meetings at Galsi at Durgapur, Silampur at Durgapur East and Purulia Constituency today.
Addressing the rallies, Deb highlighted developmental initiatives of Modi Government. He also referred to Modi Government’s ‘bold’ stand against Pakistan in the wake of Pulwama attack. He criticized the TMC government in West Bengal for its failure to fulfill expectation of people and drive the state into the path of development. He urged people to oust TMC from Bengal just as people of Tripura had dethroned CPM in 2018.
Referring to Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he said, “Didi had the opportunity to walk into paths shown by Swami Vivekananda, Rabindra Nath Thakur and other great personalities – instead, she added Syndicate Raj with CPM’s Cadre Raj and ruined the future of Bengal”.
Biplab Deb received huge applause from the supporters who gathered to listen to him. His fiery salvo against Mamata Banerjee and presentation of Modi Government’s achievements immediately caught imagination of people.
Before starting campaign in Purulia in support of BJP candidate Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato, Deb drove to residence of Shishupal Sahish at Sonabana village under Arsha block – Shishupal was a Yuba Morcha member who was found hanging in the village on April 18 last. Death of Shishupal created political outcry in the district. Deb interacted with deceased family members and condoled.
Biplab Deb was scheduled to hold a road show at Durgapur in support of SS Ahluwalia, however, West Bengal government did not permit the road show. Later Deb addressed a rally and urged people to vote for saffron party candidates.
