August 27, 2018: The Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb inaugurated the pilot project of Pradhan Mantri Jana Aarogya under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Civil Secretariat today. Speaking on the occasion, four lakhs 98 thousand 920 families, which is 71 per cent of State population, will be brought under the ambit of the Scheme. He said, large section of the society will accrue benefit from the Scheme. Deb also said, every household, under the scheme, will get an insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh for treatment.
Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Jana Aarogya Scheme while delivering I-day speech this year. As part of his announcement, the pilot project of the scheme has been launched today.
Focusing on selection of beneficiaries of the Scheme, Roy Barman said, while Socio-economic and caste census (SECC) of 2011 will be followed to identify the beneficiaries, RSBY card holders and those who registered 2016 and later. Critical diseases including Neuro, cardiac surgery etc will be covered under the scheme.
“Initially the scheme will be rolled out in AGMC and GB hospital and later the scheme will be introduced in 62 Health Centers across the State. In periodic manner, hospitals of other States enlisted as referral hospitals will also be brought under the coverage of the scheme.”, Roy Barman said.
During the inauguration programme, Biplab Deb and Sudip Roy Barman handed over E-Health card to eight beneficiaries today.
