September 18, 2018: In an attempt to boost manufacturing and innovations along with Industrial trends, ISRO has opened a space technology incubation centre in NIT,Agartala today. The incubation centre was inaugurated remotely from the country’s tech hub Bengaluru in Karnataka. The Centre will incubate start-ups to build applications and products, along with the industry, that can be used in future space missions. The incubation centre was opened as part of the summit by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb remotely inaugurated ISRO- Space Technology Incubation Center set up at NIT-Agartala in Bengaluru today. He also visited the U R Rao Satellite Center in Bengaluru and held discussions with scientists for development of Tripura.
In his address, Biplab Deb lauded the remarkable steps being taken by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for development of the country. During the programme, Deb elucidated the extensive efforts made by the State Government under its vision for Transforming Tripura to make the state a vibrant trade and commerce hub not only for the North-East India but for entire South-East Asian region.
Biplab Kumar Deb asked the representatives from various Electronic and IT sector companies to come and invest in the state of Tripura. Elaborating his pitch to Invest in Tripura, Chief Minister stated that favorable factors such as robust connectivity, cheap and continuous power supply, favorable climatic conditions, proximity to Chittagong port etc. exist which can be optimized especially for growth of Electronics as well as the IT and ITes sector in the state.
This programme was attended by over 400 members of different Electronic and IT sector companies from across the country. This programme was organised as a part of the Spacetronics 2018, a 2-day conference organised by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru. During this programme, Dr. K Sivan, Chairman, ISRO; Dr. A S Kiran Kumar, Former Chairman, ISRO; Dr. P V Venkitakrishnan, Director, CBPO, ISRO; Dr. H K Sharma, Director, NIT, Agartala and Shri Anil Kumar Muniswamy, Chairman India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) were also present.
The Chief Minister visited the U R Rao Satellite Center (URSC) where he held extensive discussions with scientists and officials from ISRO. Biplab Deb looked forward to working collaboratively with ISRO for comprehensive development of the state of Tripura. Later during the day, Deb also visited the NASSCOM Start-up Hub set up in the city of Bengaluru and interacted with the entrepreneurs present there.
Biplab Deb also visited the 10000 start up building managed by NASSCOM, govt of Karnataka and GoI. There are about 4800 start up companies at one place at present.
