Highly placed sources said, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb held a meeting with the Advocate General Arun Kanti Bhowmik in this regard. Besides, the entire episode was brought into the notice of Election Commission of India as well as central government.

The youth, Pintu Debbarma – an IPFT worker was accused of pelting stone at the vehicle of Congress candidate for East Tripura seat Pragya Debburman who happens to be Pradyut Kishore’s elder sister. After addressing a poll rally, while Pragya was on her way to Tulashikhar under Khowai district, her first escort spotted five youths with brickbats in hands standing by the road side. As youths attempted pelting brickbats, security personnel chased them – one was detained, but rest managed to flee. The detained person – Pintu Debbarma was taken to Khowai Police station, although place of occurrence comes under Champahaor PS.

Later in the evening, BJP released a CCTV footage in which Tripura Pradesh Congress president Pradyot Kishore was seen entering into the Police station and slapping the detained Pintu Debbarma. Video footage also showed that Pradyot Kishore showered verbal abuse on the accused.
