September 20, 2018: Hurling accusation of corruption in Rafale fighter aircraft deal at Modi-led BJP Government, State Pradesh Congress today held a rally in Agartala and marched to the Raj Bhawan. A seven member team submitted a deputation to the Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki. Later, a public meeting was held near Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in circuit house area.
It is interesting to note that, even though CPM is the main opposition and also up against Modi-Government over Rafale issue, it is Congress which is showing political aggression despite the fact that last Assembly polls reduced Congress into sign-board based party – not a single Congress Candidate could win Assembly berth this time. However, Congress is in pro-active mode despite humiliating poll performance and organizing agitations one after another against BJP led State and Central Governments.
On Rafale deal, it is Congress rather than CPM – is taking the lead role and attempting to corner BJP and today’s rally is another pointer to the fact that State Congress is leaving no opportunity to attack the ruling Party at the State and Centre.

Leaders of Congress demanded proper investigation into the alleged Rafale deal scam and publication of reports. Supporters of Congress and its frontal organizations attended the rally – “the participation was vibrant and impressive”, party sources claimed. In today’s agitation, PCC Chief Birjit Sinha, All India president Youth Congress Keshab Chandra Yadav, vice president of All India Youth Congress Srinivash VB and other leaders took part.
Congress Party sources said, around five thousand Congress supporters across the State attended the rally. Supporters raised slogans against Modi-led Union Government with a dummy model of Rafale fighter aircraft. Birajit Sinha said,
Spewing venom at Modi Government, Comgress leaders alleged, biggest ever financial scam occurred during Modi regime in India. Leaders also mentioned about Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s refusal to disclose cost of the deal on security reasons. Birjit Sinha said, Rahul Gandhi raised the Rafale issue and wanted to know about the cost – however, the Defence Minister refused to divulge any information.
