December 28, 2018: State secretary CPI-M of Tripura unit, Gautam Das was assaulted allegedly by BJP backed miscreants at Bishalgarh under Sepahijala district on Friday. He was returning to Agartala after attending a Party programme at Mirza in Udaipur under Gomati district.
It may be noted, miscreants assaulted veteran CPI-M MLA who is also a cancer patient, Bhanu Lal Saha at Bishalgarh area on Thursday. “Within a span of almost 24 hours, people of Bishalgarh witnessed assaults of two senior CPI-M leaders by miscreants – -after Bhanu Lal Saha on Thursday, it was turn for Gautam Das on Friday”, sources said.
According to report Das was returning from Mirza,Udaipur along with Ratan Bhowmik MLA after attending visiting the house of late Dr. Arun Ghosh former medical superintendent of GB hospital.
Near Bishalghar hospital his car got caught in heavy traffic jam as counting of by poll seats of Bishalghar municipal council was going on.
Suddenly some miscreants rushed towards his car and scuffled him. Miscreants reportedly misbehaved with Das.
Sensing danger, driver of Gautam Das car managed to speed up and flee from the spot. It is also alleged the miscreants chased his vehicle for long distance.
CPI-M state committee, Left Front committee and opposition leader Manik Sarkar in press statement strongly condemned the attack on two veteran CPI-M leaders Bhanu Lal Saha and Gautam Das in Bishalghar with in 24 hours.
Sarkar in his statement said the anti-socials elements of ruling BJP are getting courage to attack political opponents in broad daylight as complete lawlessness is prevailing in the state since declaration of last assembly election. He also demanded arrests of accused persons and arrange proper punishment of the perpetrators so that they cannot carry on such barbarism any further.
Meanwhile, Gautam Das in written complained about the incident to DGP, SP and DM of Sepahijala district.
