September 27, 2018: More than six months after taking charges, The Tripura Government has something good to share with job aspirants. The State Government will recruit for two IR battalions as well as allot postings to more than 1200 recruited teachers who were in dismay as they were not inducted into service even after getting recruitment letters.

Briefing about decisions taken in meeting of council of Ministers today, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said, State Cabinet today decided to create altogether 2014 posts for two Indian Reserve (IR) battalions, said Education minister Ratan Lal Nath.

Speaking to the reporters in the sideline of today’s media briefing, Nath said, Over 1200 teachers who recently qualified the Selection Test for Graduate Teachers (STGT) and Selection Test for Post Graduate Teachers (STPGT) will get posting before the ensuing Durga Puja.
       Cabinet Decisions:
  • State creates 2014 posts for two IR battalions
  • 13 posts for three Judicial Districts – Dhalai, Khowai and Sepahijala
  • Over 1200 TeT qualified teachers to get postings before Puja
  • Two more ITIs
Referring to recruitment for IR Battalions, Ratan Lal Nath said, “The entire recruitment process will be done as per new the recruitment policy. Ten percent of the total posts will be reserved for women. The total strength will include 85 percent from Tripura and 15 percent from outside the state.”
Initially, state will get 50 crore (25+25 crore) for formation of both the IR battalions and the state has to spend Rs. 54 crore for their salaries, he added.
The Cabinet also decided to create two more Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Kanchanpur and Gandacherra sub-divisions while two new trades will be introduced at Boxonagar ITI, Nath said.
“The Cabinet today approved creation of 42 posts for the two new ITIs and two new trades. As many as 440 more students will be trained once the plans are implemented. The two new it is will start functioning from August, 2019 next,” he said.
The council of ministers also approved recruitment in altogether 13 posts for three Judicial Districts – Dhalai, Khowai and Sepahijala.
Shedding lights on future of already recruited TET qualified teachers, he said, “The newly-recruited teachers have already received offer letters. They would get posting before Durga Puja. The process is underway.”
According to the minister, based on the requirement, the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT) had invited applications for 3706 vacant posts (STGT- Class IX to X) and 556 posts for STPGT (Class- XI to XII).
Only 1484 candidates applied for the STGT. Among them, 1300 aspirants attended the Selection Test for Graduate Teachers while 1092 candidates could qualify the examination.
On the other hand, the Selection Test for Post Graduate Teachers was conducted by the TRBT for 556 vacant posts.
“The total number of candidates applied for the STPGT is 255 while 224 amongst them sat for the examination.
Finally, 138 candidates got qualified as Post Graduate Teachers,” he said adding that all the qualified candidates were already given offer letters.
“Based on several complaints related to fake certificates, the Education department initiated a verification drive. After that, some certificates were found ‘fake’ while some of the candidates who qualified the STGT with fake certificates surrendered their offer letters before the authorities concerned.
However, the verification process is still going on. The figure may change if more fake certificates are identified,” Nath added.
He also said, “altogether 2174 candidates had applied for the recently-concluded Teachers’ Eligibility Test (Paper I) for the posts of Under Graduate Teachers (UGTs). Among them, 1789 candidates had appeared in the examination.
Similarly, 2762 candidates had applied for the TET (Paper II, Class- VI to VIII). Among them, 2337 candidates appeared in the examination. The results of both the Papers- I and II are still awaiting.”
